The Heart of Star

Our heart design is inspired by the spirit of Star’s biggest event of the year, the Hometown Celebration, with fireworks that symbolize both community pride and our deep patriotism. It also highlights one of our city’s favorite gathering places—Freedom Park—featuring “Dockzilla,” a kid leaping into Freedom Pond, and the joy of recreation that makes this park the jewel of our system. Together, it celebrates Star’s love of country, community, and connection.

Meet the Heart-ist

I am the mother of three great kids, and I live in the beautiful city of Star, Idaho. I’ve been passionate about art all my life. I discovered the joy of painting while getting my Bachelors degree at UC, San Diego. Over the years, I painted murals for friends and family, and entered various fairs and art competitions while raising my children. Now I am at the point in my life where I get to focus on my art and do what I love. Most recently, I have been a participant of Star’s Art by the River event for 3 years and also have a painting featured on one of the local traffic boxes in Star. I specialize in equestrian art, nature, pet portraits, and children’s art. I use a variety of mediums, but mostly oils on canvas.

My artistic style tends toward photorealism and impressionism. I am drawn to the beauty of nature and powerful images that catch the eye. This tends to be the focus of my subject matter. I try to capture the power or personality of my subject, or to have the image tell a story. Mostly, I hope that my art connects with someone and finds a happy home.
