Moments of Lasting Change

By Luke DeKneef

“Moments of Lasting Change” celebrates the unity and connection that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Canyon County share with the community. Inspired by the artist’s vision of hands representing care and connection—a nod to the Boys & Girls Club logo—the design highlights the powerful bonds that help children grow and thrive. The flower symbolizes the nurturing every child deserves, reminding us of the lifelong impact that a supportive community can have on young lives.

Meet the Heart-ist

Luke DeKneef is a self-taught artist from the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Growing up as a surfer he developed a fascination with waves and the crazy way they roam on earth with a temporary lifespan. While his journey as a painter has been one of constant evolution, his roots with nature continue to thrive in his art keeping him grounded in staying true to his craft. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists, retro nostalgia, life experiences both seen and unseen, and a curiosity for the spiritual connection between humans and a Creator, Luke weaves together various artistic styles and influences to create a surreal result.

Incorporating acrylic, aerosol and oil based media into his palette, he is compelled to create works of art on small canvases to large-scale murals that capture perspectives which embody the connection between the land, the sea, humans and spiritual realm.

Luke has also generated a passion for the youth which has inspired him to share what he has learned by leading artistic workshops, painting vibrant murals with community members and private tutoring. From Juvenile Court pathway facilities to elementary schools, he thrives on helping kids develop a lifelong thrill for art.
