Western Heritage Historic Byway

The Western Heritage Historic Byway is a historical, scenic byway that starts in the Meridian area. From Meridian, take Highway 69 from exit 44 of I-84, There, you’ll experience 8 scenic miles to East Avalon Avenue in Kuna, and then 21 miles through the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area to Swan Falls Dam. This byway showcases Idaho’s natural sagebrush lands and canyon rims, as well as a spectacular view of the Owyhee Mountains. At certain times of year, it’s also an amazing place to spot birds of prey. There are also trails, museums, parks, and more waiting for you to visit them. The Western Heritage Historic Byway is always worth a day trip.

Nearby Parks

Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park is a perfect example of the beautiful, well-maintained parks spread throughout Meridian. Located at 1900 N. Records Avenue, the park features a bandshell and amphitheater for live music and other events, a community garden, basketball court, a fishing pond, the Rock of Honor Memorial Monument for Veterans, interpretive art displays, and plenty of play areas for the kids. It’s a great place to exercise, enjoy a leisurely stroll, catch a local event, and spend quality time with your family. Make sure you visit Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park’s tremendous tree arboretum before you leave.

For Meridian families who enjoy sports and adventure at any time of the year, the 57 acre Settler’s Park is a favorite location. Conveniently housed at 3245 N. Meridian Road, Settler’s Park boasts horseshoe courts, baseball fields, a splash pad, a disc golf course (available even in the winter!), tennis courts, and Idaho’s first universally accessible playground. There are also monuments, picnic shelters for rent, places to barbecue, and even fishing opportunities. If you enjoy sports and outdoor leisure activities, Settler’s Park is perfect for your family.

Water Activities

Roaring Springs is an outdoor water park that features a large variety of waterslides, a wave pool, lazy river rafting, concessions, and much more. The new Bearfoot Bay is perfect for kids, and boasts animal-themed play features, cabanas, a large wading pool, and plenty of shade for relaxing parents. Thrill seekers can enjoy Corkscrew Cavern, The Cliffhanger, Viper’s Vortex, and Thunder Falls. Whether you want to relax or enjoy high-octane waterslides, Roaring Springs is a brilliant outdoor destination in Meridian.

Located just seven miles outside Meridian, on the southwest outskirts of Eagle, Eagle Island State Park is a pleasure to explore. This 547 acre park is bordered by two channels of the Boise river, and is a cherished destination for hikers, cyclists, and anyone who enjoys a trail experience. Eagle Island State Park’s five miles of trails are also enjoyed by animal lovers-- you’ll often see horseback riders along people taking their dogs on a lively outing. The park also features a disc golf course, water slide, and swimming beach. Water activities, such as fishing and paddleboarding, are also popular among Treasure Valley residents. In addition, Eagle Island State Park regularly hosts live music throughout the warm months of the year.

During the winter months, Eagle Island State Park still offers plenty of opportunities for family fun through the Gateway Park. Gateway Parks creates affordable, local opportunities for families to enjoy the snow. Tubing and skiing are a must at this snow-filled oasis. The runs are well maintained and the park is convenient to the entire area. So strap on the snow gear and get ready to spend a winter day at the park like never had before.

The Village

The perfect gathering place for friends and family, The Village at Meridian features upscale apparel and specialty retail, fine restaurants and cafes, Village Cinemas, and luxury office space. Designed with European style architecture, the buildings and tree-lined village streets surround a park setting complete with a children's play area and world-class show fountain with hourly shows choreographed to lights and music.

When the chilly winds of winter roll through the Treasure Valley, things just start heating up at The Village in Meridian. Sure, the show fountain may get a few icicles on it, but the real eye-catching ice is in the skating rink. Each year, The Village sets up a beautiful ice skating rink right in the center of the plaza. This winter experience gives families an opportunity to rent a pair of skates and hit the ice between grabbing dinner, shopping or catching a show at the theatre.

Meridian Speedway

Meridian Speedway is an outdoor race track that features both asphalt and dirt track auto races. Its stadium style seating gives every speed enthusiast a great view of the action. If you enjoy auto racing of any sort, Meridian Speedway offers a huge source for excitement with just a short drive.

Symphony Orchestra

The Meridian Symphony Orchestra, located at 12400 W McMillan Rd, is a 70 piece ensemble that plays classical favorites, seasonal treasures, and music from around the world. Formed in 1990, the Meridian Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to enriching arts, culture, and community in Meridian and beyond. The Meridian symphony is an all-volunteer organization that plays for the love of music, and features members from all different backgrounds and walks of life. They play concerts throughout the Valley, including an annual concert in the park at the Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park Bandshell.

Linder Farms

Linder Farms, located at 7165 S Linder Rd in Meridian, offers a wide range of seasonal outdoor activities for the entire family. In fall, Linder Farms is known for its pumpkin patch and corn maze. They feature pony rides, a petting zoo, and even a mechanical bull! For a nice, relaxing evening out with the family, you can’t do much better than Linder Farms.
