Meet the Heart-ist
Ashley is a part time artist that lived in Nevada for the majority of her life but moved to Mountain home in recent years. She works full time as a children’s behavior interventionist and does her artworks in her free time. She has steadily built a résumé with commissioned artworks and murals. Her primary mediums are acrylic, oils and spray paint but has started dabbling in digital art this year as well. Each medium is a different love story. Her artistic influences come from street art, graffiti, calligraphy and artists Jack Mallote and Mark Maggiori. This past year she has become more intense and bold in her works by leaning into her style combining beautiful lines, 2D backgrounds, bold flat colors and realistic portraits to weave painted narratives. She has a particular affinity for creating stylized hair that seems to have its own body and spirit. This contrast in elements is likened to a graphic comic style and soft realism. She has been drawn to making public artwork on political topics, indigenous rights, mental health and spirituality. Her inspiration stems from contrasting the dark and light concepts of being human. By taking personal experiences with death, addiction, mental illness, grief, and longing she’s translated them into something meaningful. Adversity and suffering have revealed themselves to be the greatest teachers in self development and understanding. She has found freedom in being kind, the beauty in being mentally present, love, faith in the promise of her devotion, dreams, the divine feminine and spiritual awakening.
